Comfort is everything. Choose colours and textures that work beautifully together without everyone matching perfectly. Soft, earthy and neutral tones photograph beautifully, while large logos and busy patterns can be distracting. I also love colour like reds, yellows and blues - they give a 'fun' feel - as long as you match it right it works really well.
Try to keep the day of your session relaxed. Make sure little ones have eaten, bring some mess-free snacks and allow plenty of time to get ready. Avoid squeezing too much into the day if you can—happy, rested kids make everything easier.
Pack water, a few simple mess free snacks, wipes and a spare outfit for little ones. You’re also welcome to bring something meaningful, such as a favourite blanket, toy or family keepsake.
Tell your children you’re heading out for an adventure with lots of playing, cuddling and silliness. There’s no need to practise smiles or ask them to behave perfectly. I want their real personalities, not forced poses.
Your kids don’t need to sit still or smile at the camera the entire time—in fact, I don’t expect them to! Let them explore, play and be themselves. The beautiful in-between moments often become the photographs you love most.
